Pelamis destroyed, Onward with “Rocinante”

After sailing south seas in all weather with a barely competant old guy as skipper, Pelamis went on Santa Barbara’s East Beach along with mooring number 34 unattended on  May 21st and was critically damaged,  the keel separating from the hull.  She was subsequently destroyed and the insurance company was great (Progressive).  I will not buy a boat immediately but will tour the national parks in my 79 Chevy Luv “Rocinante”.  I’m 62 and have my national park senior pass..I’ve done the Channel Islands National Park real well but have missed many other parks.  I’ll leave next week,  week of Summer Solstice, and probably go first to Middle Santa Ynez near Santa Barbara to test my camping readiness and then the following week to Sequoia near Porterville.  I’ll be visiting VFP chapters,  VFW halls and AA groups along the way.
